Busy days

Reese is crazy about stickers

Finally got bluebonnet pictures this year. We were in GA the first year and missed them the second year.

Playing with Emma and Austin

I have never in a million years heard of a child who doesn't want to move out of their crib- I of course have that child. Rusty tried very hard to get him to sleep in the big bed last week and he kept telling Rusty he wanted back in his crib. Who knows if baby girl will ever get her bed. My sister came and painted the nursery this weekend so now its ready for the bed to move in. We painted Reese's room when he was a year old so this is good progress.

I spent last weekend visiting my Dad at the lake and taking a day trip to a wedding shower in San Antonio. I was also able to visit my friend Sarah while I was in SA. Rusty, Reese and I had a great weekend at the lake. Reese caught a fish and even fell in the water (with a life jacket on - and was immediately pulled out). He goes around telling everyone "Reese fell out of boat". Its pretty crazy. Reese is talking up a storm these days.I had an event most nights this week and things aren't slowing down. I have 5 showers (for other people) in 5 weeks to attend (2 I am throwing) so that it making the time fly by. I had my one and only shower this week (my sister wouldn't give up the idea of a shower, so I am having a sip n see in July) with my MOPS group and it was funny to be back in the "guest of honor" boat. I am feeling good and not really slowing down- shocked I know! Allysons shower in SA
This past weekend Rusty had his spring ROTC banquet.

Bday surprise

We are still in search of a girls name so feel free to send some along.

Reese and I had a great weekend with my family celebrating Easter. Reese's version of hunting eggs is you open one and see whats in it and then decide if you throw it in the bag or not- not the most efficient. Eventually he started to put a few in the bag before opening to see if there was anything in it. He had a great time with his cousins and running around with the big boys. I did feel bad for my mom because her stuffed Clifford couldnt compare with the truck, boat and trailer I picked up for Reese. I picked out the Clifford with my mom several months ago and assured her he would love it- of course compared to his boat nothing can compare. I have been meaning to write about my husband and his birthday celebration this year. I have come to care very little about my birthday. In fact this year I spent the afternoon at a playdate for Reese and the night at bible study without anyone even knowing it was my birthday. No one at work would have known if my boss hadn't announced it- he said he remembered me complaining about having my bday on the last day of the quarter -therefore always having a major deliverable that day!

You know Rusty is an introvert and going to a concert is pretty low on his list. Well he took me to the Third Day concert for my bday. A storm blew in and I don't think I have ever been SO COLD in my life- but we had a great time and a lot of bonding. As Mac from Third Day said- this will Check Spellingmake a great story about how cold it is in the Spring in Texas out of nowhere. Before we left for the outdoor show I confirmed Rusty knew it was going to be really cold- he said yes. My military husband is always good about taking care of things- well in this case it was to bring a uhaul moving blanket and a table cloth to put on the ground since it would be wet. Needless to say we spend the night freezing with a uhaul blanket as our only cover. Of course he has all sorts of cold weather gear and even thought about going home to get it- but we made it. I had too much $ invested in tickets, t-shirt, dinner and baby sitter to leave early.

Rusty did surprise me with the new U2 cd I wanted (I know I am the only person in the world who still buys cd's and doesnt have an Ipod) and flowers. Then to round out the bday I went to NYC. I have never had a week long event for my bday. My sweet husband really did it up this year. It will take a lot to beat my 30th (if you ignore the fact that it was spent at the mall in GA with my newborn screaming) where I was able to fit in my pre pregnancy jeans- but this one was pretty close.

NYC Part 2

Yeah for finally getting my taxes done tonight. I am not sure why I put them off. My sister is the opposite- she has me do hers the moment it all comes in the mail - and even anxiously awaits everything to come in the mail.

Rusty's parents were kind enough to watch Reese while I was in NYC and then they stopped in today on their way back from camping for a quick visit. Reese loves to show off for his grandparents.

Now back to NYC. Let me just say that Thurs and Sunday we had fantastic weather so of course that was the day we came and left. Saturday it was 23 mile an hr winds and very cold. You could hardly walk down the street at times. We walked out on the observation deck at the Statue of Liberty and you could hardly move because of the wind. I had never been out to the statue or Ellis Island. The security to go out there is crazy. I had to get my bottle of water approved by the park ranger and then 3 security guards because of my "medical condition". They don't allow strollers, food, beverages or back packs so needless to say I would never take a toddler there. After all the feuding over my water we made it to the statue and Ellis Island and spent most of the morning there.

When we arrived back we went shopping in Soho (had to buy baby girl something at the store Giggle like I had for Reese) as well as the World Trade Center. I also took mom to see Grand Central Station and shopping around town. Saturday night we rented a car and went with Angela to the Bronx to visit her church.

We woke up Sunday to a beautiful sunny day and were bummed we had to leave. Luckily I didn't have the drama on the flight I had going to NYC (even made my tight connection ) and didn't get sick on the plane.

Came home to Reese who was so happy to see Daddy- could have cared less about me of course. Its all about Daddy these days:)

This will be my last big trip for a while. It will just be travel in the state for probably 6 months. My mom took all the pictures in NYC so I will add them once I get them from her this weekend.

NYC

Taking the glucose test was the quite possibly worse than birthing a child. 15 hrs without eating and then being pumped with sugar did not do well on my system. I am a person who eats as soon as I wake up so this was horrible. I passed 2 and failed 2 of the tests so I am borderline with the gestational diabetes. I have to test my blood sugar every day and meet with a nutritionist. I will be re evaluated once I go back for my visit on the 15th to determine if I need to take it everyday. Of course all of this starts when I get back from NYC.

I think I need to give up on the prop jet to connect. Many people including myself got sick on the plane. Luckily I had a carry on so I travelled in a dress the rest of the day- fun times. The main plane to NYC had 1 1/2 delay so needless to say we didn't get to NYC as early as we thought. We relaxed until Angela got off work and then went to see the Lion King and to dinner.

Today we took the sightseeing bus and we were rained on for 2 hrs straight. Fun times with the cold, wind and rain on top of the double decker. We had lunch at Tavern on the Green and then took another bus tour this afternoon. Luckily the rain went away and we had good weather this afternoon. We hit several shops on 5th Avenue and moms favorite- Macys. We walked and walked all day - fun times when you are 7 months pregnant. Tomorrow we are off to see the Statue of Liberty, Soho, Greenwich Village, Wall Street and The World Trade Center. Mom has quite the agenda for us and loves to shop. We have done really well getting around the subway and navigating the city without getting lost.
